I'm pretty certain it isn't possible to use them as rougher as the cut becomes way too wide and needs a load of power to actually drive machine.
Maybe in an industrial setting with 50hp motors but not for normal machinery.
It is often used to remove a few ten-thousandth's of inch though where it looks like it's just polishing but is actually cutting a tiny amount
