I wonder if such tools are still available with proliferation of pex and shark, etc.

I think this video was meant more for showing how to swage copper pipe without splitting it or damaging your tool, by annealing it first rather than to promote the tool itself.
There are a lot of different types of swaging tools on the market and some can be made without much difficulty.
