In the video between :55 and 1:00 is that a piece of paper to set the gear engagement or metal. Didn't use the right words sorry...maybe setting the lash?? I use paper on my Mini Lathe when changing gears or move the banjo.

Yes. That's piece of paper. The same thickness which I use when changing gears at banjo.
