Aluminum Replacement Knobs for My Drill Press

I enjoy re-building equipment that needs a little TLC, and my drill-press handle knobs needed to be replaced because all 3 had cracked and did not hold on the handle threads anymore.



Could have purchased some new Knobs and quickly replaced them ... but much more fun to Cast some out of Aluminum.




No special reason for the unusual shape ... Just wanted something different



Ground & buffed them off just enough to get rid of the sharp edges ...



Then tapped the knobs with metric M10 x 1.5 Thread to match drill-press handles.

I like this as I have done aluminum casting and have also have annoying cheap drill press handles. Great job and great idea.

In the Sand Casting Flask photo you can see there was another part that SuperDave Cast.



It is a Shift Knob for my 1999 Jeep ...



Also drew up in SolidWorks a Hurst Type Pattern for SuperDave



3D-Printed the Split-Patterns for casting and sent them with the Drill-Press Knobs to SuperDave.


Didn't buff the Shift Knob up too much ... Well ~ Cause it's for a JEEP!!
