Looks like it worked pretty well, though I think I'd like to have both logs closer to the same length. Quite a bit of tilt to the side on that, though it did work. A shame you can't do that on a tracked vehicle.

Actually you can but you chain the logs across both tracks and you have to remove them at the far end or add several shorter logs to every other link in the grousers.
this used to be the norm in the swamps until some bright boy cam up with the idea to make the tracks double width with inverted canoe looking grouser pads for dozers loaders and excavators
Never try to tell me it can't be done
When I have to paint I use KBS products

You can one machine length by cabling a log crossways on a crawler tractor. Works great depending on conditions. Been there.

From the looks of it, this technique could get you unstuck or, if things go badly, so very much more stuck.

That would be what I meant in my comment about the longer log on one side causing the tractor to tip sideways. Not too many tractors I've seen have enough of a restraint system to keep the operator from falling out if it tips sideways, and if the ground is soft enough, it would be quite possible to drown before anyone could get you out. Since you could wind up under the tractor on soft ground. Not my preferred way to go...

This would have worked sooner if the operator had had the foresight to engage the diff lock to start with.
