Ideas for lathe protection and covers.

I was preparing an email for a friend with example photos of some swarf protection methods for my lathe. I thought that if I put it into a PDF it might be of use to the inmates of this forum.
As per my recent posts I have made more modifications to my lathe by fitting linear ball rails to the cross slide in preparation to using it for grinding motorcycle cams.

I have always made way and screw covers for my lathes to keep swarf away from where it shouldn't be but with ball screws and linear ball rails it is more important to keep muck where it should be and it becomes even more important if you do grinding on the lathe.

The attached PDF may generate ideas to suit other members. Each lathe and each user will need different solutions. I hope my experience will help.

Here are a couple of pix as teasers.
