    Machinist Clamp Unconventional with prints

    Unconventional Machinist Clamp.
These clamps take up about half as much space on the mill table as the standard machinist clamps.
With a small mill I find the conventional clamps too big to clear the mill column.
The answer comes from Harold Hall. He has a presence here on Homemade Tools and his own website as well.

This is my version with plans for one with a 3.0" capacity. This can be increased by making the all thread studs longer. Jaw depth is just under 2 inches.
Loctite is used on the stud threads at the lower jaw and the rear most stud and it's brass knob. The picture shows the details as do the prints.

Thank you. I will add this to my "tool fund".
Always a pleasure to read HMT.net and to post some of my own tools.
I spend at least 60% of my online machining research and just plain surfing on HMT.
