Awesome idea. I’m definitely going to make one and here are a couple of ideas that may help others. If you can’t get the aircon compressor electromagnets they are easy to make out of microwave oven transformers. Plenty of videos on YT describing how to do it and instead of making a new vice I will attach my existing drilling vice to the base with the magnets in it. Cheers Stuart.

Love that! How about taking it one step further and make your table electromagnetic?

You can also use electromagnets used in trailer brakes, they're 12v and draw about 3.5 amps each. I suggest 2 would be enough, but as they are inexpensive about $20 each use 4 and make a base for a magnetic drill while you're at it.
