Thanks for the comments. Yes, the paper towel holder that I used for the main shaft is hollow. So far I have only used regular sewing thread. But I'm sure that if I found something thicker I could use it.

Amazing engineering! I love the flex shaft driving the final collector roller! Did you build the machine just because you could or do you have a purpose for the twine the machine makes?
I use the miniature rope for ship modeling. I am currently working on a model of the HMS Victory. I'll try to attach a pic.

Double Wow. This is a great example of detailed wood working artisan/craftsmanship that we were just talking about on Philip's Scorp builds. Please share more as there isn't much here on that type of miniature ship builds. Plus you built a machine from repurposed materials to make parts for it...That's a Yahtzee!
Thanks for sharing, PJ
PJ, Thanks for the comments. I guess I could post my portable workstation made be making some simple modifications to a Home Depo cabinet. And add some pics of the model. I also have some other builds I would like to post when I get around to it. I made a band saw from elevator parts and a table saw.
Congratulations myavid76 - your Model Rope Making Machine is the Homemade Tool of the Week!
We've seen homemade rope making machines before, but they haven't been this nice, especially with the clever combo of kitchen mixer, paper towel holder, and elevator wheel. It was also good to see a photo of the accompanying model ship.
