    The dangers of having to set your outriggers close to an open trench or pit is all too real. I've almost had my backhoe go into a pit that I was digging the same way that truck crane fell. Fortunately I was able to slam the boom down in time to stop any further progress.

    A larger outrigger pad might have prevented that. Looks like they were using a 2x4.
