Most modern tractors with chevron tire treads have the chevrons oriented such that they point to the rear when they are in contact with the ground. This is also true for the John Deere tractors with tread belts in place of wheels...

While it seems the wrong way round to me, I have to assume that a tractor maker of renown such as JD knows what it's doing.
That would seem to indicate that the tracks shown in the museum picture are mounted the wrong way round while those in the B&W photo are properly oriented.
