I had a 1989 Nissan truck and the driver's side headlight went out. It wasn't the bulb. So I went to troubleshooting it and discovered it was the dimmer switch which is inside the steering column mess. I didn't want to deal with that so I installed a 40 amp 12 volt light relay on the still working light. With the relay un-energized it sent voltage to the low beam of the other light. With the relay energized (By voltage from the high beam circuit of the working light) it sent voltage to the high beam of the other headlight. Worked like a champ.

By the way BuffaloJohn, When I have to drill copper sheet I clamp it between two pieces of hardwood and drill through all. That will insure a good hole without snagging.
