There are a bunch of uses for a thread mill. Making high-precision lead screws is just one of them. Thread milling is used in industry so it cannot be that bad an idea. Getting industrial equipment to do it is a problem for hobbyists, so I for one would be much interested in how you do it. I would not worry about the nay-sayers. And I see that there are already several people who think this is a good thing besides me. Please, don't let the few who don't like it run you off!
