Screw vise with a hydraulic jaw

This is my second prototype about vise that can be used with a screw or hydraulic jack.

This design gives wider opening than "regular" hydraulic vises.

To have the adjustability of the vise and the force-capability of a hydraulic press in a single tool - fantastic!
Don't delete the first video - just re-label it as "Capability" - it tells what your gizmo can do what neither a vise nor a hydraulic press are capable on its own, but what can be achieved when melding them into a single tool.
Do I see it right - as constructed the vise is capable of 2 tons of force?

    Thank you.

Yes, its a 2 ton jack / press.
Return springs are from a scooter front shock absorbers, those are somewhat strong and possible limits the max power to 1,8 - 1,9 ton.

Other materials: 12-25mm steel and LDX 2404 ( lean duplex ) for the jaw guides, 22mm dia rods and 30mm x 35mm squares.

Well Thank You for the excellent video and frankly a fantastic idea for a bench vise!!!! I' not sure if you follow but the guy running Fireball tool just did a vise build that also is of great interest. Lots of vise building and reconditioning, going on this year.

I haven't watched it, but watched now that you mentioned.
This is somewhat same sized 40cm opening = 16".
That allows to use bending dies, installing bearings to longer axles... Etc

" Regular " hydraulic vise opens 4-6" That's not very much, and doesn't allow to use nearly more that just clamping objects. That's why i started to think about option that allows to get the advantage about the hydraulic use. Otherwise there wouldn't be much difference, if the vise is screw or hydraulic powered, if it can't be used more than holding objects.
