    with the pedal you have both functions: When pressing it slightly down the microswitch releases the arc start, gas, etc. By pushing it further down you increase the amperage up to the value that you have preset on your welder.

    And no, the potentiometers can only be turned abt. 270°. I just wrapped the string several times around the shaft to have as much friction as possible. The friction is even increased by the spring loaded lever on the other end. The string actually moves 50mm when the pedal is pushed down which gives abt. 3/4 rotation on the 20mm shaft.
