We ALL have those "why didn't I..." moments.
As Frank S describes thinking outside the box, is less inventive than picturing that box as a sphere; with infinite points of reference.
When I watched Tuomas assemble the ground connector, I saw it applying design of the 'banjo fitting' for fluid transfer.

There's no intention to promote my incredible mental prowess. It does not exist; the substitute is to recognize how something connects elsewhere.

Excellent! But, doesn't the heat weaken the magnet?

Yes it does, but ferrite magnet that i used handles heat better than neodyme. It needs about 500 degrees of celsius that it demagnetises. And when it cools down its magnetig again. Little weaker tought. Continous over 100 degrees of celsius, slowly weakens it.
    But that doesn't happen fast.
We use magnets at my workplace for supporting ceramic welding backings. It takes about a year before magnet is useless.

Coal was to have small portable solution, wich can be used as a positioner if sometimes needed.

For a daily use there are more reliable versions.
Magnet costs about 2.5e, so its not much if it needs to change once a year. Clamp connectors costs more than that, i tend to broke those more often.

Originally i made this for welding this kind of pressurised fuel containers..

When connector is sticked to the end, grounding cable doesn't get twisted.

I made much better video first, but my storage drive stopped working... so i made a new video, with less examples.

And... i use wooden wheels, made with hole saw, for rolling pipes on top of them when welding.

Easy and cheap to make, but can't be used for grounding.
    This connector fixes that issue.

This is pretty slick. It would be fairly easy to rig up a gear motor to this for light work.

I made a bigger version from this with 16mm axle for the motorized version. Plans are ready, most of the materials collected too. Just needs to find time for the building.. it shouldn't take more than a day. But, those days seem to lost somewhere..

I will name it "Great Idea!"

I saw it two days ago and bought a magnet today........as they say; Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery.

    Thanks for sharing this!
